We’re hiring for a California-based biotech startup that’s building AI-powered health solutions at scale. This is a leadership role where you’ll drive the company’s transition to a data-centric, AI-first platform, owning strategy and execution end-to-end. You’ll work closely with the CTO and play a critical role in shaping the AI roadmap.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design and deployment of machine learning systems across the product
- Translate business goals into scalable AI and data architectures
- Build ML models for microbiome and health applications (predictive analytics, personalization, image processing)
- Collaborate closely with biologists, engineers, and product stakeholders
- Optimize models for scale, reliability, and real-time performance
- Establish governance for model lifecycle, compliance, and ethical AI practices
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of experience building and deploying ML-driven systems
- Strong hands-on engineering background with ownership of complex projects
- Experience designing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines (Python, Node.js preferred)
- Solid understanding of ML algorithms and statistical methods
- Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Comfortable working in fast-moving, cross-functional startup environments
- Bonus: healthcare or genomics data, data governance, research or publications
